In the 90’s the Southwest Michigan music scene exploded in Grand Rapids, Michigan’s Eastown with iconic bands such as of the Verve Pipe (The Freshman), Milkhouse, and everyone has heard and ska\punk pioneers Mustard Plug.

On Top of who is left list is the most “infamous” 90’s band from the bowels of the Westside of Grand Rapids, Mi. are The Swineharts

The Swineharts are 1200 lbs of Pure Love packed in Heavy Syrup. They have over 50 shitty original songs that range from the sentimental to the crass & just plain absurd. Band motto: “If you have tits or dope, then let’s party!” or “When there is no hope, don’t go for the soap on the rope”.

The Swineharts original music ranges from blues, punk, pop to rock with a sprinkle of country all with a comedic flair. The Swineharts can play all the covers anyone can think of badly! The Swineharts live embody the spirit of fun, the spontaneity, the reckless energy that rock n roll is supposed to be. Think The Swineharts as Supersuckers meets J. Geils meets Steel Panther meets Tenacious D meets Ween meets Spinal Tap.

The Swineharts are:

Guitarist-Singer-Larry “Big Lar” Bates, Bass/Singer- Dave French, Harmonica & Percussion-Michael “Mickey D” Dennis. Drummer-Brian Arnold and Lead Guitarist Rick Boyd.

For over a decade The Swineharts 1200 lbs of pure love packed in heavy syrup has spewed it’s lyrical magic across West Michigan with 100’s of performances. 2010 The Swineharts won the Battle of the bands at the Ionia Free Fair. The Swineharts have rocked the legendary Daktal summer pig roasts, Nudestock, Hughstock, Potatoepalooza, and Festival on the Grand. The Swineharts will be one of the featured bands performing and competing for $10,000 dollars in prize money at the 2014 ART PRIZE in Grand Rapids, Mi.

The Swineharts will be releasing an 8-song album in 2014. They released 2 videos in 2014. “Remnants of Katherine” and “Batman is Gay” which can currently be seen on You Tube.

This band is just down right “goose bump good”. You either love them or you want to eat them, regardless a guaranteed good time at any event or party.
